I have been playing golf for over 40 years. Hilliard Lakes offers everything in a course. It has plenty sand, water and trees. The course makes you use every club in your bag. Staff is extreamly freindly and knowledeageable.

My three brothersd and I reserved a tee time for Sunday, 7/22/07. at 8:15 AM. I very surprised that,at least, 8 other parties were given the SAME tee time. It was obvious that they accomidated every call in who wanted an early tee off. I fell that the course should do better job of time management, even if they opened up the back 9 for tee off. The wait was annoying!

Great greens. Challenging course due to narrow fairways. The only thing I disliked about this course was the lack of a donkey punch at the turn. Sweetbriar usually provides that for a small fee.

Nice layout short but nice. Shot placement is a must to score well, in other words you can't wack away to drive the short par 4's and expect to score well unless your a pro. Greens are to slow. Pricey for nine holes and a cart. Comments about grumpy old men is true. The only smiles I seen were from the man at the cash register and the starter on the back nine (I played on Wednesday before a parker league who were kind enough to let us cut in before there league started). I'll try again on a weekend.

I work at Lakewood Country Club, so I am used to playing and working on a very nice course. Hilliard seemed to pass my expectations of a public course. There were a few spots where the rough was burned out, but other than that the course was in great condition and the staff was nice. However the rule where one has to be 18 to drive a cart is rediculous. I think if one has a license, they should be able to drive a cart.

Nice course, but no Firestone, that's for sure. I took a few of my fellow associates in the tobacco litigation department to the course and they had a great time. We smoked cuban cigars and discussed recent 8th district appellate decisions.

Great course. Not very long, but the back nine is extremely tight and requires much skill. The staff is extremely nice, unlike all of the staff members at Sweetbriar Golf Course. I will never go back there.

I agree with most of the below, but the greens are in great shape here. Not lightning fast, but smooth and consistent. Played on Memorial Day, so we were prepared for it to be 5+ hours, but we didn't wait as much as I'd feared. As peviously stated, this is by no means a long course even from the tips, but most fairways are pretty tight, lined with mature trees and disected by creeks on several holes. Never before have I heard so much "FORE!" followed by a loud "CLACK!" as a ball hit a tree.

The course is OK, Lil Augusta it is not. It needs some work in the tee boxes (too long and sloped), fairways have many dead spots and the greens are slower than molasses. Layout is okay, only a challenge from the back if you shoot in mid 80's or below. Staff is kind of rude too.

This course treated our company league in a very unprofessional way. We wanted to move our league to Hilliard Lakes, and the course said that they would accept our league. So, I told our league members about the change. Everyone was excited about playing a new course next year. Then, the course called me and said that they found a bigger league (more $$), so they were not accepting our league any more. The person I talked to, Ron, was very rude and unprofessional each time I spoke with him. If they want people to keep giving them business, they had better learn how to treat people with a shred of decency.

The course is very pretty and fun to play. One of the nicer ones in the area. Where are the port-a-potties???? Us old gals need a break or two along the way. Also think the staff is very old-fashioned, bunch of old timers. Not very woman friendly. That doesn't scare me off tho, I'll be back for another round.

The layout here is one of the best in Cleveland. However, I was very dissapointed in the maintenance of the course. There were far too many areas on in the fairways that were unplayable. At least rope them off and fix it.

I enjoy the course but calling it lil Augusta is a joke! At best this course is a relaxed walked in a beautiful park and provides some good practice. The staff are a bunch of old, cranky codgers and for the price your better off going to Sweetbriar in Avon Lakes and playing the Legacy course!

after reading other reviews calling this course "lil Augusta" was looking forward to playing. What I found was not that impressive, grass in tee box was way to high, could not tell fairway from rough, no cut line, greens were slow, pace of play was five hours 10 minutes for 18 holes, very slow, thought fees were high for a course of this quality. Also Augusta is not flat like this course, not sure were "lil Augusta" comes from.

A solid course with a tight challenging back nine. Greens are usually in good shape. The real issue exists with personal, known locally as a very unfriendly group.

Hilliard Lakes is a great small town course, with championship appeal. Recent updates, course management, and a challenging layout provide an enjoyable golf experience. Tucked in the woods of Westlake, Lilí Augusta is recommendable to anyone who can find it!
