Aside from the "Grumpy Old Starter", the chopped up greens, and the overpricing, this course is well designed and very tough. Fairways are in good shape and it indeed was crowded and tough to walk even nine.

Love the layout, have played it for years. Looks like they have replaced the grumpy old men with starters that smile. Now they need to work on the sand traps and pace of play. If your in a league you can play 9 holes in three hours and nothing will be said. When we asked the ranger to ask the the league players to play ready golf, he just said " They're in a league".

I've played this course for years. It's been known for overcrowding and slow play in the past, but last year, in my view, it played much faster. The course is ussually in great shape and greens plush. Lack of rain or a dry season make the greens play very fast & challenging, otherwise you can attack the pin. When the season brings normal conditions you can't find a better course for your money anywhere in the area.

One of my favorite courses to play. I just cant stop thinking about playing this course. The greens, the bunkers, the sand traps, all in good shape. If only playing 9 holes I would play the back 9. Its got some nice holes and good views. Great course drink some beers and toke the reefer at with some buddys (go after 4 if you plan on getting real high so course is empty). Overall good course and good price.

The hole in one contest on #7 is luck though.

Arification of greens 5/16 and 5/17 created extremely unpleasant putting conditions. But I am sure when the greens are good this course is great. #10 is under construction and is playing only 88 yards. Play was quick on Friday 5/20, only 3:45 to play 18 (3some, carts, 9:00 am tee time.

Greens were in very mediocre shape. A few were awful with drainage outlinging and influencing the break. They were very rough and putted extremely bumpy. Many trees are being taken out which hurts the character but does add playability for higher handicaps.

Just a note to visitors to this site.....The Hole in One contest will resume mid-may. #10 Fairway is seeded/rough sodded, and hope to reopen Memorial weekend or shortly thereafter. t

Played there this past w/e. #10, which would otherwise be the toughest hole, still plays as an 80-yd par 3. Looks like it should be playable by late summer if at all this year. Other than that, course in decent shape. Greens pretty consistently fast. Still a good track, though relatively short from any but the blue tees.

Why did they stop the automated Hole in One Contest on hole #7. I usually play this course at most 2 times a year. This year I must have play it a dozen times. Not only do I love the chance to win the HUMMER, so do all my friends and anyone we got matched up with. I haven't played the course in a month and they discontinued the contest. Although it is a decent course, that contest makes it a lot more fun and I hope they continue to offer this in the future.

This course, though fully mature and beautifully conceived/laid out, has never drained well. It hadn't rained in 4 days, but I lost several balls that plugged. It was a muddy mess all day. #s 10 & 18 are ripped to shreds and play as short and long par 3s, respectively. Hopefully the work they're doing is primarily to fix the drainage problem, because it keeps this from being one of the best in the area at any price.

This is one of the best layouts you will come across public or private in the entire area. Donald Ross designed great shot golf course. Make this place a little better conditioned, with better greens and faiways and you have a winner. For the price best deal in Cleveland, just be prepared for a slow round.

What a pity that such a great layout is in the hands of the metroparks. Conditions are pretty bad most of the time, pace of play is terrible and personnel are not great. The layout, on the other hand, is outstanding - you never know anyone is on the course except behind or in front of you. Sweet. Charge more and maintain the course - you'll eliminate some play and have the $$$ to do some maintenance.

This course is a good course. It is challenging but fun. Let me just say this now, don't walk the course, you won't have enough energy to hit it. There are so many hills and it's sooooo long. (And I only played 9 holes). But, I would recomend it.

OK... 3 stars. I would love to put 5 based on the design (and designer). Here's where the problems start. Pro shop people are very, how can I say this nicely, inflexable...probably because THE COURSE GETS SOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH PLAY!!!!!!!! If you're ready for a 6 hour round you've found the place (Evenings tend to be better- after 6:30) They are trying to bring this one back, but the conditioning still has MUCH MUCH to be desired, especially the greens. Worth your time if you can get out without 5,000,000 people in front of you.

The course is well maintianed and has very nice people that workf on it. The course is always in good shape and everyone should get the oppurtunity to play on souch a nice course.

a very fun placement course. It is challenging but very fair. The course is nicely kept and the prices are very affordable. A tee time can be hard to get at this course because it is an area favorite. It's more fun than 90% of public courses around.

For a public course, Manakiki is above average. The course has moments when it looks great and is well maintained. However, sometimes they do let it go. Fair prices for 18 holes.
