For the second time since 2022, Jackson Chandler shot a 66 to finish as medalist at the U.S. Open Local Qualifier at Scioto Reserve Country Club. Chandler was one of six players to advance to U.S. Open Final Qualifying.
Chandler, a Dublin native and former Buckeye, now resides in Jacksonville, Florida as he continues his professional golf career. His bogey-free round included five birdies in his first 10 holes.
Among the other qualifiers, Trey Shirley, a professional out of Bardstown, Kentucky birdied his final hole to shoot a 4-under 68 and advance to Final Qualifying. Shirley has spent many years on the mini tour circuits such as the GProTour, as well as PGA Tour Canada.
Sean Paul Owen, one of the top mid-amateur golfers in New York, didn’t make a single bogey on his way to a 4-under 68. An eagle on the par-5 5th hole was the highlight of his day.
Also in the group at 4-under 68 was Ethan Tracy of Columbus, Ohio. Tracy is a former PGA TOUR member and Korn Ferry Tour winner. He competed in the 2016 U.S. Open at Oakmont, where he made the cut. After many years as a touring professional, Tracy is now a firefighter.
The lone player to reach 7-under during play was Finley Bartlett of Cincinnati. A few mistakes down the stretch dropped Bartlett back to 4-under, but that was good enough to advance.
Bartlett is a former Ohio Junior champion and is now a rising sophomore at Ohio State.
Rounding out the group of those who advanced on Monday at Scioto Reserve was Mount Vernon's TT Crouch.
Crouch has now advanced to Final Qualifying in three out of the last four years and seven times overall at an Ohio Golf Association hosted U.S. Open Local Qualifier.
Crouch, a former National Champion and winner on PGA TOUR Canada, is now an instructor and the head coach of the Mount Vernon High School golf team.
