RESULTSPHOTOS13 players, including co-medalists William Lisle and Lorenzo Pinili, advanced to the championship at Merion Golf Club from the U.S. Amateur Final Qualifier at the Scarlet Course.
Among the 13 qualifiers was Mason, Ohio's AJ Wilhelm, a member of the Xavier golf team. Wilhelm finisheed in third place with a 3-under-par 68.
A 7-for-5 playoff consisting of those who carded a 1-under-par 70 rounded out the day.
Justin Hueber, a former full-time member of the Korn Ferry Tour, was one of four who advanced with a par on the first playoff hole. Hueber had plentiful experience on the Scarlet Course due to his appearances at the Nationwide Children's Hospital Championship.
Speaking of experience at the Scarlet Course, Timotej Formanek, a member of the Ohio State golf team, was also one of the four players who made par on the first playoff hole. Joining them was Remy Staclup, a member of the Morehead State golf team, as well as Matthew Mattioli, who canned a 20-footer for par to advance.
Charlie Barrickman took the last of the five qualifying spots in the playoff with a par on the third hole. The U.S. Amateur Championship will be particularly special for Barrickman, who lives 25 minutes from Merion Golf Club.

Just one USGA Qualifier hosted by the Ohio Golf Association remains this year, the U.S. Mid-Amateur Qualifier at Rattlesnake Ridge in August.
