Justin Horn of Milford, Ohio shot a 4-under 68 on Monday at Pinnacle Golf Club to finish as medalist in the U.S. Open Local Qualifier.
After playing his first 12 holes in even-par, Horn eagled 13, and birdied two more holes to finish 4-under-par.
Horn's 68 topped a group of three players who shot 3-under 69. That trio included Carson Bellish (Pickerington, OH), TT Crouch (Fredericktown, OH), and Erik Edwards (Louisville, KY).
Bellish, a rising senior at Xavier University, completed his 18 holes without a single bogey.
TT Crouch's round of 3-under secured him his spot in U.S. Open Final Qualifying. This marks the sixth time Crouch has advanced through an OGA-hosted U.S. Open Local Qualifier.
Four players tied at 71 (T-5), causing a 4-for-2 playoff for the final qualification spots.
Asaeli Batibasaga (Mount Vernon, OH) and Elliott Grayson (Rock Hill, SC) prevailed with pars on the first playoff hole. Corbin Bentley (Westerville, Ohio) made bogey and is the first alternate. Yadhu Urs, who advanced to the NCAA Division II National Championship by way of a playoff last week, made double bogey and is the second alternate.
Grayson's 71 was particularily impressive as it came in the afternoon wave. The former Akron Zip was the only player under-par from the afternoon wave, which saw steady rains and breezy conditions.
The Ohio Golf Association will host a U.S. Open Final Qualifier on Monday, June 2, at The Lakes Golf & Country Club and Kinsale Golf & Fitness Club.
This year's U.S. Open Championship will be played June 12-15, at Oakmont CC near Pittsburgh, Pa.
