Betzold wins inaugural Public/Municipal Championship
08/19/2025

West Chester's Peter Betzold posted rounds of 68-70 (-4) at Raymond Memorial to win the first edition of the Ohio Public/Municipal Championship.

After leading by a single stroke after day one, Betzold lifted and seperated from the field thanks to solid play all day in the second round.

Two particular highlights from Betzold's round included a birdie on the par-3 8th and long par-3 17th, which was the dagger to the chasing pack.

The victory is the second Ohio Golf Association trophy for Betzold, who won the senior division at the 2024 Two-Man Best-Ball at Rattlesnake Ridge alongside partner David Clancy.

This also marks back-to-back winners of Ohio Golf Association events from West Chester. Joe Wilson IV recently won the Ohio Amateur Championship at Zanesville CC.

Both Betzold and runner-up Mike Stackus will earn an exemption into the 2025 National Links Trust Championship, October 17-19 in Washington D.C.

National Links Trust is a non-profit organization dedicated to positively impacting our community and changing lives through affordable and accessible municipal golf.
