Don Nist

Don Nist, of Massillon, Ohio has been compiling a very impressive amateur golf resume for over six decades. He first made his mark as the Stark County Junior Champion, and went on to become a two-year letter winner as a member of the Ohio State University golf team in 1955 and 1956.

Don is a three-time winner of Massillon's Tigertown Open (1957,1968,1973), a six time Stark County Amateur (1956,1961,1965,1967,1969,1971), and has won the Stark County Open five times (1959,1962,1965,1970,1978). Don has also won the Ohio Public Links Championship three times (1957, 1965, and 1972) and has qualified for two USGA Senior Amateur Championships and three USGA Senior Amateur Championships.

In addition to demonstrating great proficiency on the golf course, Don has also given back to the game he loves by serving as a member of the Board of Directors of the Stark County Amateur Golf Association for 40 years. In 2010, he founded the Stark County Amateur Golf Hall of Fame. Don spent 19 years as a panelist for Golf Digest's ratings of the top 100 courses in the United States and the top 30 courses in each state. He also once served his state as a member of the House of Representatives 103rd General Assembly.

Don is also a member of both the Ohio Public Links Golfers Association Hall of Fame and the Stark County Amateur Golf Hall of Fame.
