On this day in Ohio golf history, Governor James Cox gave the dedicatory address at the opening for Miami Valley Golf Club in Dayton.

Donald Ross designed this par 71 course with a length of 6,795 yards.

Miami Valley Golf Club has hosted a number of notable tournaments, including the 1931 Western Open, the 1957 PGA Championship and the 1996 Ohio Amateur.
