One of the 10 U.S. Open Final Qualifiers will be hosted by the Ohio Golf Association on Monday, June 2, at Kinsale Golf & Fitness Club in Powell.
This year’s qualifier will feature roughly 65 players, including 15 players from the PGA TOUR.
The 2025 U.S. Open Championship will be played June 12-15, at Oakmont Country Club outside of Pittsburgh.
COURSE NOTES
Kinsale Golf & Fitness Club, located in Powell, was opened in 2004 after a design by world renowned architect, Arthur Hills.
Kinsale has hosted U.S. Open local qualifying nine times, from 2011-2015, and from 2017-2020. The club also hosted final qualifying in 2016 and 2022, alongside Wedgewood Golf & Country Club.
FIELD NOTES
The number of qualifying spots will be determined early on Monday morning.
This year’s field features a strong contingent of PGA TOUR players, many of whom will make the short trek from Muirfield Village to attempt to qualify.
The top ranked player in the Official World Golf Ranking is Bud Cauley at no. 57.
Matt Kuchar, a nine-time winner on the PGA TOUR, holds the most PGA TOUR wins of anyone in the field.
Six-time PGA TOUR winners Max Homa and Rickie Fowler are two of the biggest names attempting to qualify at any of the U.S. Open sites on Monday, and they’ll both be in the field at Kinsale.
Ireland’s Padraig Harrington, a three-time major champion, will look to qualify for his 17th U.S. Open at the age of 53. Harrington has only made one U.S. open appearance since 2013.
Last year’s medalist is in the field, as Justin Lower (Akron, Ohio) played stellar golf at the Ohio State University Golf Club last June to qualify for his first major championship.
PGA TOUR player Patrick Rodgers has had as much success at qualifying in Columbus as anyone. In fact, Rodgers advanced through qualifying both times Kinsale co-hosted alongside Wedgewood, in 2016 and 2022.
Other TOUR notables include Adam Hadwin, Alex Noren, Chez Reavie, Eric Cole, Jake Knapp, Cameron Young, and Erik Van Rooyen.
In total, the contingent from the PGA TOUR has a combined 35 PGA TOUR wins.
Three players, Asaeli Batibasaga, Erik Edwards, and TT Crouch, locally qualified at Pinnacle Golf Club a few weeks ago and will also tee it up at Kinsale.
Crouch represents one of eight competitors from the state of Ohio. The Mount Vernon native won the 2013 and 2014 NCAA Division II National Championship and will play alongside Max Homa, who won the DIvision I title in 2013.
