Nick Popa, former Executive Director of the Ohio Golf Association, was involved with golf for over 50 years in many different capacities. Nick was Tournament Director for the 1964 PGA Golf Championship at Columbus Country Club, the 1968 US Amateur Championship at Scioto Country Club, the 1965 PGA Seniors at Fort Lauderdale, Florida and three Lady Carling LPGA Opens in Columbus.
Nick's son, Jim, is now Executive Director of the Ohio Golf Association, located in Columbus. Nick and his wife Betty have two daughters, three sons, eight granddaughters and three grandsons. His daughter, Nancy, is married to former PGA tour player Ed Sneed.
Nick was the founder and tournament director of The Columbus Invitational Pro-Am, which raised almost $2 million for Children's Hospital in Columbus. The Columbus Invitational Pro-Am became the Memorial in 1976. He was also one of the original trustees of the Ohio Golf Hall of Fame.
The Board of Trustees of The Ohio Golf Hall of Fame is honored to induct Nick Popa into The Ohio Golf Hall of Fame.
