On this day in Ohio golf history, the United States won the Ryder Cup with captain Walter Hagen at Scioto Country Club in Upper Arlington, Ohio.

Team USA featured Denny Shute, Columbus native and 1927 Ohio Amateur champion.

The United States declared a resounding victory over Great Britain with a score of 9 to 3.
